Strengthening understanding among communities, governments, and Indigenous peoples.
The Indigenous Affairs Forum advances cultural understanding, protects Indigenous heritage, and strengthens respectful relationships among communities, governments, and Indigenous peoples.
We are a collective of education-focused changemakers committed to giving Indigenous peoples a way to bridge communication with their communities. By combining data-driven insights with human-centered design, we deliver practical solutions that turn passion into measurable progress. We follow the lead of the world's Indigenous nations on matters of their history, culture, and language, and we support their work.
The Indigenous Affairs Forum provides a collaborative forum where Indigenous communities, historians, educators, government agencies, and community partners work together to preserve Indigenous history and culture, promote accurate research and education, strengthen relationships, and support initiatives that honor the past while building a stronger future.
The Forum is led by a Board of Directors and supported by an Advisory Panel. The two bodies have separate roles so that decisions about the organization stay distinct from advice on research and cultural standards.
The Board sets the mission, adopts policy, oversees finances, and is accountable for the Forum's conduct. Directors serve defined terms, and the Board elects its own members. Membership in the Forum is non-voting and does not carry a vote on Board seats.
The Advisory Panel is made up of people who do not serve on the Board. Panelists advise on research standards, historical and genealogical methods, and cultural protocol. They hold no governance vote, and their advice does not replace the independent judgment of the Board.
Current Board members and Advisory Panel members will be listed on this page as they are seated.
